Founded in the heart of Minneapolis, Punch pizza was born from a simple love for authentic Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizza — the kind you'd find in the traditional pizzerias of Naples, Italy.

It all started when our founders returned from a trip to Italy, captivated by the simple perfection of a margherita pulled straight from a wood-burning oven. Back in Minneapolis, they set out to recreate that experience — sourcing the finest ingredients, mastering the craft of naturally leavened dough, and building stone ovens that reach the perfect blistering temperature.

    The Spark in Naples

    Founders John and Maria Carlsen travel to Naples, Italy, and are forever changed by a single bite of a true Neapolitan margherita. The dream of bringing that experience to Minneapolis begins.

  • 2010

    Punch pizza Opens Its Doors

    After two years of recipe development and oven construction, Punch pizza opens at 210 E Hennepin Ave in Minneapolis. Lines form around the block on opening day.

  • 2013

    Minneapolis Best Pizza Award

    Punch pizza is named "Best Pizza in Minneapolis" by Minnesota Monthly Magazine. The recognition cements our reputation and brings a new wave of loyal guests to our table.

  • 2016

    Farm-to-Table Commitment

    We launch our local sourcing program, partnering with five Minnesota farms to bring seasonal, hyper-fresh toppings to our menu. A new chapter in quality begins.

  • 2019

    Community Expansion
